Counselling for Health Issues

Has a health diagnosis, chronic condition, or ongoing medical uncertainty changed the way you see your body, your future, or yourself? Maybe you are trying to adjust to symptoms, appointments, limitations, or fears that other people do not fully understand.

Facing a health condition can be scary, alienating, and de-humanizing. Counselling can offer a space to process your experiences, make room for the emotions that come with it, and find ways to live more fully alongside uncertainty.

Health challenges can affect far more than your physical wellbeing. They may change your routines, relationships, work, independence, or sense of identity. You might feel grief for the life you expected to have, anger toward your body, fear about what comes next, or guilt about the impact your health has on the people around you.

You may also feel pressure to stay positive, be grateful, or keep functioning as though nothing has changed. Even when others are supportive, it can be difficult to explain the exhaustion of managing symptoms, advocating for care, and making decisions without clear answers.

This area of counselling is deeply personal to me, and I have great respect for those learning to live with illness, uncertainty, and change. Counselling can help you make sense of what you are carrying, reconnect with the parts of yourself that may feel overshadowed by your health, and explore what support, meaning, and self-compassion might look like now. The goal is not to pretend that everything is okay, but to help you feel less alone and more grounded as you move forward.
